Senior Programs

Senior Transportation

The Alta House serves area seniors (60 years and over) providing transportation for shopping, medical appointments, weekday Holy Day Masses and personal errands (i.e. bank, hair, etc.).   The pick-up service area is centered in Little Italy and University Circle.

Monday through Friday (9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)  Transportation during evenings or weekends may be arranged depending on driver availability.  Please call 216-421-1536 for details and to schedule a trip.

Senior Socialization and Inter-generational Activities

Wednesday afternoons, seniors are invited for lunch and games at the Alta House.  Students at the Montessori School assist in preparing and serving a healthy lunch.  Seniors are welcome to stay for an afternoon of Uno, Bingo or other fun games.  Call or email the Alta House for our Lunch Bunch schedule and if transportation is needed.

Blood Pressure checks are conducted during the lunch hour on the first Wednesday of each month.

Throughout the school year, seniors involved in any of our programs are invited to attend Montessori School events such as Music and Drama Productions, Thanksgiving Lunch, Advent (Christmas) Programs and other special events.   Opportunities for inter-generational projects present themselves throughout the year as well.  Outreach to area senior residences, such as Abington Arms, include participation in holiday parties, arts & crafts, music programs and cultural presentations.

Seniors are also invited to attend Holy Day Masses with the Montessori students when these days fall during the school week.  Contact the Alta House for transportation to Holy Rosary church for these Mass dates.

Seniors interested in opportunities to walk in the gym or participate in other fitness centered activities are encouraged to contact our office for more information.

**First time clientele for transportation or social activities will need to complete required registration forms.  All clients will be required to update their information annually.
